The New Character

He smiles at me
This mysterious man of mine
He is saddened
He is lost, I imagine him in my mind

My heart skips a beat
As I write, between the pages
Crafting his look,
His thoughts, what he says

And as I continue writing
I see him smile as he
Turns around and brick walls
Disappear between us

He understands me and I understand him
We create this piece together
As I whisper in the words
I love you -- new character of mine
Poem

Why I write - the creation of a new character in a novel
Catching the moment I have started writing about him and why I write and what happens.

This level of passion is required to create an authentic character.

But watch out ---- what happens here if he is the devil in disguise - those characters people love to hate???? You get the opposite.

haha this is something that happens to me ALL the time...my flights of fancy make me wish life could be given to a sketch or storybook character and not only living and breathing here in my mind.

This, I really really like. It's not exactly how characters happen with me - is more they turn up and start telling me I'm writing them wrong and they're moving in to make sure I get them right in future - but it's close enough that it rings very very true. Very nice piece.

I am currently writing a book with many characters - doing this. Coming into the book - going back out, coming back in.
